History & Philosophy

Nomura Preschool’s commitment to early child development dates back to its founding in 1964 by Mrs. Faith Nomura when she opened a small music preschool in Berkeley, California.  Now located on the border of El Cerrito and Albany, our newly updated campus has the look and feel of a cozy, welcoming village for our young learners.

Our Campus

Located in the Richmond Annex – bordering El Cerrito and Albany – and taking up almost one whole city block, our campus offers multiple spaces for children to learn, explore and grow.  Its convenient location just two minutes from I-80 (Carlson Blvd exit) and I-580 (Bayview Ave exit) is perfect for the Bay Area commute.

Our Staff

Our diverse staff come from a variety of different backgrounds, but all share their love of working with young children.  Our teachers are patient, dedicated, experienced educators who strive to instill in all students a passion and love for learning.
